Calling all pantashoe fans! Net-a-Porter has partnered up with Balenciaga to launch an exclusive capsule collection, available January 22. The dual women’s and men’s collections will signal the first exclusive retail collaboration under Demna Gvasalia, who took over as artistic director for the brand in 2015.
With 53 pieces in total, this capsule ranges far and wide, including both classic staples to statement pieces. With everything from tailored trousers to neon hoodies, it’s hard to imagine that there is anyone who would be unable to find at least one piece that piques their interest in the collection.
One of our favourite details about the campaign, however, is the shooting location of the campaign imagery. Inspired by how fashion functions in the real world, the campaign photos were taken at Net-a-Porter’s home office, on its own employees! Being one of the world’s leading luxury fashion retailers, it’s easy to imagine that these could be very “real world” snapshots of the Net-a-Porter office.
While ultra high-gloss campaigns are admittedly fun and imaginative, they don’t always translate well into everyday life—leaving us to wonder who would actually wear the pieces and how they’d pull it off. Because of the immediacy of the campaign, these looks seem familiar, speaking to the exact audience the campaign is trying to capture. Viewing the pieces in this way, through an everyday scene, the capsule collection can translate into something we can realistically imagine seeing in our everyday lives—which is refreshing, if not inspiring.
