Whether you’ve been partying all night long, working long hours or just plain slacking on the eye cream and your eyes are always looking puffy, we feel you. So, we’ve rounded-up 6 easy and simple solutions to help you rid yourself of the puffiness
Use cold spoons
You’ve heard this one before, over and over. And that’s because it works. Placing cold metal spoons on your eyes for a few minutes will help tighten the skin and decrease any puffiness. Do this before applying make-up.
If you’ve been on a party bender, you should know that not only will your body be screaming for alcohol, but your eyes too. The effects of alcohol can often contribute to swelling and puffiness under your eyes. If you’re planning on another girls’ night out, try drinking water before and after to reduce the visible damage the following day.
Hold the salt
Sodium can result in being bloated as well as swelling under your eyes. Try adding vitamin B-rich foods (like spinach) to your diet to help reduce the appearance of puffy eyes, as well as bloating!
Try witch hazel
Try this: soak two pads in witch hazel (available from your nearest pharmacy) and place them on your eyes, leaving them on for about 5 minutes. The results are incredible.
Do an eye massage
Tammy Fender, an aesthetician in the US, suggests using your rings fingers (TIP: always use this finger when applying eye cream or removing stubborn make-up) to press your way from the inner to the outer corners of your eyes, moving to your temples and down to your jaw. Doing this will help flush excess fluid causing puffy eyes. Repeat as necessary.
Apply haemorrhoid cream (seriously)
If bum or nipple cream can be good for your lips, why wouldn’t this? We know, it sounds weird and gross, but the main ingredient – phenylephrine – is an active ingredient that constricts blood vessels and shrinks under-eye tissue. Using your ring finger, apply a bit to the puffy area, but be careful not to get it in your eyes.
Draw attention away from the puffiness by defining your upper lids with liner and a good ol’ coat of mascara. What better time to perfect that winged liner than now?
